Thursday (Day 4 of Week 3)

Today we all worked hard on our editing, focusing on the sound editing and post-production. However, we were doing some wacky things outside the classroom as well!

Chris took on the foosball crowd.

We played a marathon game of SPUD. (in the morning, at lunch... the kids probably would have continued it at the end of the day, if we had time!)

One event in our Ultimate Showdown was "Lawn Darts." (see video below)

Other kids went up against Vernell to see who could eat the donuts off the string first.

And while we were playing Pin-the-Stache on Luigi, we noticed an uncanny resemblance...

Oh, and btw, Ed TECH RULES!

(That was loud, but tomorrow we'll get C-R-A-Z-Y!!!!)

Wednesday (Day 3 of Week 3)

Today we're halfway through camp and are working hard. Today, we needed to have a bit more flexibility that usual...
... with the crew power-washing the stairs connecting our classrooms with our rec area. Luckily, there was more than one exit!

Clay animators work hard to get all the footage they need.

Malie does a little solo side project, multitasking with the camera, computer and dry erase board!

This group animates talking fruit. You can see the many versions of each fruit on the table. These versions are necessary to give the illusion of speech.

The Movie Makers began their feature film today. Here we see a director, his spoiled lead actress and her overworked assistant. Oh, and don't miss the mysterious shadowy figure lurking in the foreground!

More movie making just down the hall.

And Rob in full movie make-up!

Tuesday (Day 2 of Week 3)

Our campers were up to some crazy stunts right from the start of the day....
Here, kids play "Out of Gas" - an improv game that stretches their creativity. Here they are being trees that are stealing a car....

Then, back to work. In Movie Making and both Animation classes, students worked to plan and create their storyboards.

Clay Animation built their characters and background. Here we see some characters in production...

... and here's a completed donut-man!

Rob works the camera in an undisclosed production.

And my incessant picture-taking must have worn out its welcome if this is the reaction I get from this busy Movie Making crew! :)

Monday (Day 1 of Week 3)

Welcome to Week 3 of Camp Edventure TECH! We are already off to a GREAT start.

First, let me introduce my "cast"...

The Animators
The Movie-Makers
And, let's see what they are up to....

Vernel helps Matthew get the perfect shot during the filming of his short exercise about annoying people on cell phones.

Here are Lexie and Andrea, happily playing the part of the "annoying cell phone talkers."

Later that morning, Movie Makers watched their work on the big screen.

Animation was no less busy as they shot their animation test exercises focusing on motion and timing.

The kids did have a chance to unwind during our breaks. Above, you can see them throwing yellow crumpled paper introductions around the room! (Ask them about that.)

"He's got that ED TECH vibe..."

At the end of the day, Vernell lead us in an Ed TECH chant. This groups was unbelievably awesome - and it's only Day 1! I can't wait to see what we're up to next....

Friday (Day 5 of Week 2)

Friday is here and that means it is time for our animators and movie makers to showcase their work! We had two PSAs, two movies, and one colossal clay animation - over 4 minutes long! There were vampires, magic 8 balls, and meteors with mouths - how much more exciting can you get?!

Campers were invited to walk down the red carpet with their friends and family....

... Each group presented their film to the audience...

... And awards were given out.

Go... Ed TECH!

Thursday (Day 4 of Week 2)

Today in Ed TECH, we were very busy editing. Movie-Making spent their entire day working on their edits, while Clay Animation used the morning to finish up their filming and the afternoon to work on edits. Tomorrow is yet another busy day in preparation of our film premiere. (You should come see it on Friday at 2:30 pm!)

Below is a picture of our very cool and elaborate Base Station background in Clay Animation.

After all the hard work, it was time to get a little crazy. It was time for the "Ultimate Showdown" between staff and campers. There were a variety of events and, as you can see below, some of them were quite crazy, messy or both!

N'Jeri, Ryley & Charles prepare to eat their donuts off the string.

These are the contestants BEFORE the pie search.

And here they are after. (Point goes to the kids on this one!)

Oobleck!
Mummy wrap!
Somewhat surprisingly, the competition ended up in a tie (!) and the campers and staff will share the Ed TECH cup of Fame.

Wednesday (Day 3 of Week 2)

Clay animation has a tremendous amount of work ahead of them. Here you can see Max and Kiwi taping the rotating observatory sequence (left) while Adam and Kiwi work on animating figures inside the Home Base background (below).

It may appear that Eli is sleeping on the job, but this is, in fact, a cleverly-constructed set for his group's final movie. He's actually napping on hard tables, but you would never know it from the shot!

This cameraman is attempting to get a 360 degree shot. August helps him out a bit by rolling the chair along while Stirling keeps the camera steady.

Marcus adjusts the camera as his group prepares to tape another scene.

Stirling and his group film a scene, while instructor Nyle looks on. Nyle really helped keep the kids focused on the story by referring back to the storyboards frequently.

Ida and Celeste enjoyed filming their scenes for their final movie.

Tuesday (Day 2 of Week 2)

I'd like to start this blog post by reiterating that I have no idea how Eli pulls off this card trick - amazing!

Back to business.... Charles is the producer of his group's PSA on stealing.

Here the group films the teacher scene at for the beginning of their PSA.

In the elevator, we found VAMPIRES?! I mean... the other PSA group... filming their piece on Global Warming.
In the Clay Animation room, they are no less busy. Adam works on creating his sci-fi character.

And here are that character's friends AND enemies!

Kiwi's favorite is this one... the creature has many special powers and gadgets, including slicers, lasers and more!
